If you have been to Paso Robles in recent years, you know that the restaurant scene has been booming with gourmet artisans showing off their culinary skills and one-of-a kind dishes in local kitchens. Many of which got their start as a local caterer, showcasing their amazing cuisine at local events, and/or entering competitions all over the Central Coast. Restaurant goers are grateful for those who took their talents a step farther and opened up restaurants and bistros which feature their signature and award-winning dishes all year round!
In honor of January being “Restaurant Month” along the Central Coast, allow us to tempt you with a few of our fave local chef owned restaurants located just a short mile from Adelaide Inn in our quaint and charming Paso Robles downtown area.
Jeffry’s Wine Country BBQ
‘Chef Jeff’ Wiseinger is a multi-award winning chef with over 25 years of experience. He started Jeffry’s Catering then opened Jeffry’s Wine Country BBQ with his wife, Kathleen in 2018 which features a wide variety of house smoked premium meats rubbed with their own dry rub along with great salads and appetizers. His signature dishes, “Paso Mac & Cheesesteak” and Paella have won multiple awards and are definitely must haves! All of their sauces and dressings are made from scratch and gourmet crafted sandwiches are served on fresh bread baked daily. Jeff and Kat invite you to relax in their courtyard setting with a glass of local beer or wine and make yourself at home. P.S. They are pet friendly!
Buona Tavola
For over two decades, Chef Antonio Varia has been delighting locals and vacationers alike with his superb Italian cuisine. He opened Buona Tavola (meaning “good table”) in 1992 in San Luis Obispo and later opened his Paso Robles location, boasting the honor of receiving the highest ratings of any restaurant in SLO County by the esteemed Zagat Survey. With the full bar and casually elegant atmosphere, Chef Antonio and his staff promise to ‘bring you the highest quality and freshest foods prepared with love.” which makes it a staple in Paso.
Paso Terra
This high-end seafood restaurant features masterpiece dishes by “the true ‘chef'” Chef Andre Averseng. Chef Andre has been a chef for 45+ years and a professional Culinary Instructor for the last 25. He and his wife Cristina, also a chef, started a gourmet take-out and catering company called ‘Dining with Andre‘ in 1999 and it is still going strong today. They opened Paso Terra in the heart of downtown Paso and where they are known for their succulent scallops and utilizing sustainable farming ingredients in their dishes. We highly recommend experiencing their amazing cuisine but with only being open Wed thru Sun from 5:30 to 9PM, we also recommend making a reservation!
La Cosecha Bar + Restaurant
La Cosecha is the creation of Chef Santos MacDonal. Chef Santos is an Italian chef by trade whose pastas and sauces can be experienced at his Italian Paso place, Il Cortile Ristorante, but it’s his Latin cuisine that makes La Cosecha Bar + Restaurant a downtown hot spot. He sources herbs and spices from each dish’s nation of origin while utilizing the local farmer’s market-fresh produce, meats, and cheeses making for a unique fusion of flavor. Latin inspired cocktails are crafted by mixologist Eric Carfagnini using garden-fresh ingredients and locally-sourced spirits. Located in the downtown square, be sure to sit out on the sidewalk patio.
