Cloud Climbers Jeep Tours

Need a bit of excitement with your vino? Look no further — you can now (literally) get off the beaten path in a custom 4×4 Jeep tour that will show you the highlights of the Paso Robles wine country. Grab your hat, sunscreen, camera and some friends and hop aboard for a truly unforgettable day with Cloud Climbers Wine Tours.

Starting from right here in Paso Robles (or any of the surrounding areas) the jeeps make their way through the Paso Robles back country, much of which is inaccessible to a normal vehicle. You’ll be whisked from tasting room after tasting room, truly taking the ‘scenic route’. You’ll head right through vineyards, wind through canyon trails, and go up and over some high peaks on dirt road ridgelines. Photo opportunities abound, including scenic overlooks of the entire Paso Robles wine region.

You can also expect to taste some outstanding wines from some of the Paso Roble’s top vineyards. Sit back and relax with a glass of Chardonnay at the Adealaidia Winery, which was awarded 92 points in 2012’sConnoisseur’s Guide to California Wine. Sip on a decadent Syrah at the Rancho de Cielo (Ranch in the Sky), the newest addition to the Carnia Cellars family. For a unique (and delicious!) taste, try the wines at the Whalebone Vineyard – where fossilized seashells and ancient whale bones are found amongst the shale and limestone soil, giving the grapes a very distinct flavour. All this and many more vineyards and wineries await you on this very unique tour.

In between tasting rooms, you’ll also get the opportunity to learn some of the rich history of the region. The “Paso” area was first known for its thermal mineral springs thousands of years ago by the Salinan Indians. During the late 18th century, the region and its hot springs became a popular stop along the Camino Real Trail, and as word spread visitors were coming from the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, and eve Alabama. As the region grew in popularity the fertile soil of the area drew ambitious farmers to establish cattle ranches, dairy farms, and various orchards for fruits and nuts. Today the region is best known for its world class wines, year round pleasant weather, and abundance of outdoor recreation activities.

Cloud Climbers Wine Tours can accommodate up to 5-7 passengers in each vehicle, but groups of 8 or more and family tours can be arranged by contacting them ahead of time. Each Jeep is equipped with safe and comfortable seating, a professional driver, and a removable canopy for days where the weather won’t cooperate. Tours typically run for a full 5-6 hours, so its recommended guests dress for the weather. When you arrive back at the hotel you can dive into our onsite pool, practice your short game on our mini golf course, or simply kick back and relax in one of our spacious guest rooms at the Adelaide Inn.
