Nothing cures the blues of a long gray winter better than the magic of spring. It’s a time when nature wakes up, shakes off the doldrums, and begins to celebrate longer, warmer days filled with brilliant sunshine. From the joyful chirping of birds to the stunning display of colorful wildflowers, there’s simply no better place to witness this transformation unfold than the rolling green hills of Paso Robles Wine Country.

New Beginnings

Paso Robles’ enchanting springtime show awakens the spirit and brings a sense of renewal: Wobbly baby lambs and calves fill the fields along the scenic drives of budding vineyards; Winemakers eagerly evaluate their vines and begin to form strategies to protect and nurture the developing fruit; And wine lovers from around the world start to plan their Paso Robles wine tasting adventures with an eye toward our fabulous festivals held throughout the year. Kicking off spring is the annual Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Festival that celebrates Paso’s traditional varietal.

VINTAGE PASO: ZINFANDEL FESTIVAL | March 18th – 20th

As one of the earliest vines planted in Paso Robles in the late 1800s, Zinfandel enjoys the unique distinction as the area’s Heritage Varietal. The wine grape had a strong influence on the early growth and development of the industry in Paso Robles and remains a key varietal for many local wineries. 

During the upcoming Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Festival, lovers of the varietal will unite in celebration of all things Zin! With each participating winery offering a host of zinfully fun tastings and events. Weekend activities include a Zin-focused seminar moderated by Master Sommelier, Fred Dame, winemaker dinners, exclusive tastings, and winery and vineyard tours.

Friday, March 18th:  Zinfandel flights and Open Mic Night: 6-9pm, no entry fee required. Wine Specials all evening and complimentary snacks will be served with the purchase of wine. Call the tasting room today to book your 15-minute time slot.

Saturday, March 19th:  Enjoy live music from Bear Market Riot and a winemaker’s BBQ while you barrel taste through some of the winery’s unreleased Zins paired with Zinfandel infused cupcakes made by Little Miss Cupcake! Patio Party 11-6pm, live music 1-4pm.

Sunday, March 20th: Wrap up your Vintage Paso weekend with Clavo Cellars award winning wines in the tasting room. Zinfandel flights for everyone! Tasting room hours: 12-5pm.

Friday, March 18th:  Enjoy a full line up of Lone Madrone Dry Farmed, Head Trained Zinfandels and Zinfandel Blends. In honor of Vintage Paso the winery will also be presenting some of their older vintages.

Saturday, March 19th: Zinfandel all day long! Lunch will be available from noon – 3 pm, featuring Gumbo Ya Ya by Chef Jeffrey Scott.

Sunday, March 20th: It’s Kick Off Burger Sunday. Enjoy live music and Chef Jeffrey Scott’s famous Gourmet Burgers. Pair one of our tasty Zins or Zin blends with your choice of either lamb burgers or Portobello mushroom burgers.

Friday, March 18th:  Join Pelletiere Estate for the release of their 2014 Zinfandel! The winery’s second ever Zinfandel vintage. Limited production wines will be paired with a different artisan cheese that compliments its flavor and texture. Pairings from 1-4pm, no reservation required.

Saturday, March 19th:  Immerse yourself in the breathtaking surroundings of spring in the vineyard, while enjoying live music by the one and only Marty Paris! Local gourmet food truck, The Pairing Knife, will be on site fixin’ up some tasty bits from 1:30-4:30 to enjoy along with a tasting or a glass of Pelletiere’s limited production estate wines.

Sunday, March 20th:  Enjoy an educational tasting with our winemaker, Amy Butler as she guides you through Pelletiere’s wine making process and their limited production Italian style wines. Tasting room open from 11-5pm.
